    ##### Determining Fracture Codes

You have learned this week that there are several types of fractures that patients may receive. It is important as medical coders that we understand the type of fracture and treatment approach as outlined in the provider’s medical documentation for proper coding selection.

    ###### Determine what type of fracture and approach may be found in a patient’s medical record.

Include the following aspects in the discussion:

    – Describe two examples of fractures

    – Explain what type of fracture treatment may be used in the examples selected

    – Provide CPT code examples for your two fracture treatments identified

    – Discuss why it is necessary for medical coders to locate the type of fracture, anatomic site, and treatment used by the provider for accurate CPT code selection

    – Discuss ramifications of what may occur if coders do not confirm this information

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

Work with your Learning Community Group members to discuss the topic of phonological awareness.  Take care to become knowledgeable with concepts as follows:
    – phonological awareness
    – phonemic awareness
    – compare and contrast between phonological awareness and phonemic awareness
Then, together with your group, Create a Meme that captures your understanding of this contrast between phonological awareness and phonemic awareness. Remember, phonemic awareness is part of the components of phonological awareness. Phonemic awareness is critically important to the acquisition of reading skills.
Select an image that visually represents your understanding of phonological awareness and phonemic awareness. See the example below. You are **not** allowed to use this sample image or any other similar image for your assignment.  **Locate images on the internet (or draw your own!) You must create your own wording! Base your wording on information found in your CORE book from the Phonemic Awareness chapter and/or any of the resources provided in Module 2 of this course.** Limit your wording to 12 sentences maximum.
For possible full points your assignment must include the following:
    1. Your meme (showing the contrast between phonological awareness and phonemic awareness) with a brief caption
    2. A paragraph where you define phonological awareness and explain the difference between phonological awareness and phonemic awareness. Include aspects of phonemic awareness as well.
Each group will submit **one** meme.  Include the name of each group member name at the top of the page.  In addition to your meme meeting all the specified parameters for this assignment, it will also be judged on its originality.
I am looking forward to seeing what you will create!
Do not copy this sample. Please create your own original idea!
