    – ## Discussion1.docx

    **## Discussion1.docx**

This week we are focusing on the family as a Psychosocial unit. The family is a viable psychosocial system. It is comprised of members who interact and are connected. Families have rules, boundaries, hierarchies, as well as an established equilibrium. If there is one change, it affects the unit.

This is an excerpt from the book Understanding Families by Jo Ann Allen: Many writers in discussing the family as a system use the analogy of the heating system of a house. As Haley (1963) explains it, the furnace responds to the signal from the thermostat, but the thermostat responds to the temperature of the room which responds to the heat from the furnace. Each element serves a function in the total heating system. The elements are interdependent. For example, when the air becomes "too cold" the thermostat signals the furnace to give more heat, and when the air is "warm" the thermostat signals the furnace to shut off. The temperature in the house fluctuates within a narrow range around the setting of the thermostat. The heating system has a kind of balance, or homeostasis, and all of the elements of the system (the furnace, the thermostat, the room temperature) are involved in maintaining that balance. As long as the setting remains the same, the temperature remains stable. Even when the setting is changed the elements of the heating system still relate to each other in the same way. There are rules which govern this process, and all parts of the system work to maintain the rules, in this case, the setting. This analogy is comparable to the family system in which the elements, the family members, are dependent upon one another. In a similar manner, families develop a kind of balance in their relationship patterns.

Researchers say that the family is dying every day in the US (at least the nuclear family). Do we still need family? Any other ideas about the impact of a family?

Chapter 5 focused on Legal, Ethical, and Professional Issues. Professional codes of ethics are indeed essential for the practice of counseling. Please make yourself familiar with the concepts identified in this reading particularly HIPAA and dual relationships.

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

    ## **Instructions:**
Week 5 Assignment: Build a substance-based PowerPoint presentation. You are present the presentation with voice over. This can be accomplished with the PowerPoint based features or you can use a software of your choice, such as Prezi Video, Zoom, or your computer installed video/audio features. The presentation is to contain at least 10 slides with an introduction, body and summary slides on the concepts listed below from Week 5 Readings.  Be sure to address each item, so you capitalize on all available points. Remember to provide a summary and note that the quality of your presentation will have some bearing on your total points. You want to use images, videos on YouTube, if available, hyperlinks and other supportive diagram where necessary.
For more instructions view video below:
You will see in the assignment area, you will have the option of attaching the PowerPoint presentation. If you do not have access to PowerPoint, use MS Word, but you will need to address each point and add images to support your transition. My Computer video/audio feature is available in the Assignment area Submission link. Click the icon that represents My Computer video/audio. You will get populated into an environment where you are able to add videos, photos, and audios after clicking upload. You may download audacity, independent of this environment, and use it to create and upload an audio. However, you may click webcam and record an audio/video of your presentation with or without your face visible. Once it becomes part to of your file, you may select it, and it will become part of your assignment submission. You will use the video to talk about your presentation and then attach your slides to submit your assignment. This is one quick way to complete your assignment without a lot of struggle.
Class, if you choose to create a video, try to keep the size small. You have the capacity to upload about 30MB in video size depending on the network you are working on. Also, go to the video link and review the videos on wireless communication and more. Keep in mind, the assignment will extend your knowledge beyond the lessons via research. Additionally, communication media would be the same as transmission media in respect to this assignment.
Examples of **wired** media would include the following:
    – Twisted-pair cable is used for telephone systems and network cabling.
    – Coaxial cable is often used for cable television wiring.
    – Fiber-optic cable is capable of carrying significantly more data at faster speeds than wired cables.
Examples of **wireless** media would include the following:
    – Broadcast radio distributes radio signals over long and short distances.
    – Cellular radio is a form of broadcast radio used for mobile communications.
    – Microwave station, which is earth-based reflective dish used for microwave communications, and it must transmit in straight line with no obstructions.
    ## **Be sure to address the following:**
    – Introduction – provide the reader a bulleted list of all the points your will discuss in the presentation.
    – From the Analog to the Digital Age – discuss how digital and analog data differ and what a modem does ( **Audio is required)**.
    – Explain **Network Architectures** ( **Audio is required)**.
    – Networks – discuss the benefits of networks and three types of networks, their components, and variations ( **Audio is required)**.
    – Wired Communication Media – discuss three types of wired communications media ( **Audio is required)**.
    – Wireless Communication Media – discuss three types of wireless communications media ( **Audio is required)**.
    – Cyberthreats, Hackers, & Safeguards – describe areas of concern for keeping a computer system safe ( **Audio is required)**.
    – Summary – provide the reader a bulleted list of all the major points you discussed in the presentation.
    – Overall Quality of Presentation **with audio** support using MS PowerPoint Voice Over feature, Prezi Video, My Computer video/audio, Zoom or other available audio/video software (included images, video, audio and content hyperlinks where needed to extend presentation).
    – **Remember to give your source credit using APA format!**
    – Try not to exceed 30MB in presentation size, so you may submit your completed work. If still too large, delete some of the multimedia.
    ## **Submission Instructions:**
Upon completion, submit your completed presentation in this area of the classroom for grading. ![Free White Switch Hub Turned on Stock Photo](https://images.pexels.com/photos/159304/network-cable-ethernet-computer-159304.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500)Image Source: https://images.pexels.com/photos/159304/network-cable-ethernet-computer-159304.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&w=600

    Assignment Prompt & Instructions

It is strongly recommended that you complete all labs in Lesson 7 of your textbook, for practice, before attempting this assignment. Although you will not submit the labs from your textbook, they will give you the foundation to understand how to correctly code in HTML.
You must write the code files by hand for all assignments in this class. A simple text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++ will suffice. DO NOT use web page programs, such as FrontPage, Dreamweaver, etc. You must write the code for your web pages yourself.
Make sure all of your web pages (HTML files) comply with the HTML 5 standards. DO NOT use deprecated (outdated) tags and attributes from previous versions of HTML. By including the HTML 5 DOCTYPE declaration in your webpages, and [validating](http://validator.w3.org/) all of your HTML files, you can be sure that your code complies with HTML 5.
Make sure all of your style sheets (CSS files) comply with the CSS3 standards. By ensuring that all of your CSS files (and any HTML files containing embedded CSS) [validate](http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/), you can be sure that your code complies with CSS3.
You are encouraged to test all of your web pages at the [W3C mobile OK Checker](http://validator.w3.org/mobile). Keep in mind that all pages of your website must pass validation on the W3C mobile OK Checker when you submit your website for the Final Project at the end of Week 8. Therefore, if you can test your pages each week and begin correcting any errors that you find, you will have less work to do during the final week of the course to ensure your web pages pass validation on the W3C mobile OK Checker before submitting your Final Project.
Create your files using a text editor, such as Notepad or Notepad++, and name the main page (home page of your website) "LastFirstAssignment5.html" where "Last" is your last name and "First" is your first name. For example, if your name is John Smith, you would name your main file SmithJohnAssignment5.html
    **Instructions:**
This week you will add an HTML5 drag-and-drop API to your website. If there were any errors in your website in weeks 1-4, please make sure you correct them before re-submitting your files for this week's assignment. Continue to build on the website you created in weeks 1-4. You should be creating an informative website about any topic that interests you. Make sure that you write the content (the paragraphs of information about your topic) yourself. Do not copy content from other web pages. Your website should contain at least 4-6 paragraphs of information, arranged in a logical manner (appropriately using headings and sub-headings, as well as HTML5 structure elements). Do not re-use webpages or webpage content that you have already used for a grade in a previous course, such as WEBD121. Although the skills you gained in other courses will give you a good foundation to build upon in this class, you are expected to create original work for this course, using new content and new code that you learn in this course. Use this as an opportunity to teach me something new about a topic which you are knowledgeable about!
Your website (HTML files) must include all of the following:
    1. Correctly uses all basic HTML 5 tags, such as HTML 5 DOCTYPE declaration; html, head, and body tags; charset, author, keywords, and description meta tags; title tags; and HTML5 structure elements (found in Table 1-2 of Lesson 1 of your textbook). In particular, be sure to use each structure element correctly, containing information appropriate for that type of structure element.
    2. In the body section of your document, include all seven HTML5 structure elements from Table 1-2 of Lesson 1 of your textbook. Be sure to use each structure element correctly, containing information appropriate for that type of structure element.
    3. Website contains at least three HTML pages with a total of 4-6 paragraphs of well-written, well-thought-out content.
    4. Images, hyperlinks, and other HTML elements appropriate to your page.
    5. Correctly coded HTML5 drag-and-drop API.
    6. [Validate](http://validator.w3.org/) all HTML files and fix any errors that the validator identifies before submitting your assignment.
Your style sheets (CSS files) must include all of the following:
    1. Correctly coded CSS3 selectors and properties, including a variety of background properties, border properties, font properties, text effects, and advanced CSS3 techniques.
    2. [Validate](http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/) all CSS files (and all HTML files that contain embedded CSS) and fix any errors that the validator identifies before submitting your assignment.

Make sure all of your style sheets (CSS files) comply with the CSS3 standards. By ensuring that all of your CSS files (and any HTML files containing embedded CSS) [validate](http://jigsaw.w3.org/css-validator/), you can be sure that your code complies with CSS3.
